Government appoints new CEO of national telecommunications monopoly

Communications Minister Vladimir Goncharenko has appointed Konstantin Tikar as the new director general of the national telecommunications monopoly Beltelecom. The executive headed Beltelecom’s department of long-distance phone service prior to the appointment.

As Mr. Tikar told BelaPAN, he plans to “solve tasks set by the vital needs of the population and the state” after taking over as Beltelecom CEO.

Mr. Tikar succeeds Nikolai Zaitsev who was dismissed from the position in late December after a four-month stint at the helm of the telecommunications monopoly. The communications ministry declined to comment on his dismissal.
